In the first encounter of the UEFA U17 qualifying mini-tournament held at the Centenary Stadium, the Maltese side started off on the wrong foot as they were beaten by the convincing Irish youngsters 1-3.

The many new faces in the Maltese squad were up beaten by the tough Irish side which they dominated during the 90mins. 2 days 2 draws for Malta! Good start for the Dede era as he may brought some luck already together with a good performance for both the Maltese nationals.

Malta U21 grabbed a 1-1 draw against Wales in Tuesday’s match with Malta forward Terence Vella initial goal was cancelled by Welsh U21 hot prospect Robson-Kanu.  Then on Wednesday’s international friendly we saw Malta vs Macedonia, which was one of many international friendlies played around the globe this mid-week. In this afternoon’s friendly Malta U21 are ready to get on the Welsh side to set them up for their UEFA U21 Qualification match due on the 7th of September against the talented France.

The Welsh side are topping the table of  Group 3 which contains Italy, Hungary, Bosnia-Herzegovina & Luxembourg. On the other hand Malta U21 occupy the last place in a tough Group 8 with Ukraine topping the table, France, Belgium & Slovenia following.

Maltese Youth League discovered the Champions of 2009-2010 in a derby match between arch rivals Valletta vs Floriana a famous encounter which have always offered an excitement for the supporters.

Valletta scored 4 goals to demolish the Greens to win the title.  With 11 points difference on the second placed Melita, Valletta showed their youth power with great performances and 48 goal tally. Many of these youth players may become the future of Valletta F.C as soon as next season.
