Malta’s U21 win in Lithuania put them on Top of Group 2 in the UEFA U21 Qualifying Rounds.
Malta U21 starlets performed another brilliant match against Lithuania U21 where the locals convinced once again with a 1-2 win away.

Coach Ray Farrugia selected his first Malta U21 squad for a trip to Sicily to play against Catania’s Primavera.Malta U21 will face the Sicilian side for a friendly in preparation for their upcoming fixtures. The newly appointed Maltese coach will experiment with his young side as many of the players chosen are set to make their debut with Malta U21′s shirt.

Malta U21 has been drawn in a tough group for the 2013 UEFA Under 21 Championship. In Group 2 Malta will battle it out with Sweden, Ukraine, Finland, Slovenia & Lithuania. Who are the opponents starlets?
The Maltese side has appointed Mr. Ray ‘Zazu’ Farrugia as their new coach along side Mr. Ronald Vella to guide the local starlets in this competition. With the Maltese Premier League due to start this month we are going to see 3 local Maltese youngsters making their debuts as they returned after a short spell playing their trade abroad.

The 3 players all of them under 19 years of age are some of the most promising athletes in the Maltese ranks. One of the few Maltese young players playing abroad is Matthew Robert Gauci who plays with Lowestoft Town F.C,  was recently selected to represent Suffolk Regional Team in the U.K Regional League after he caught the eye of Suffolk coaches with his excellent performances on the left flank for his club both with the Youths and with the Reserves. U.K Regional League is considered to be of a high standard one, with most of the players playing semi-professional and professional with host of top English clubs.
